Meridian residents, please be advised that the intersection at Thompsons Road and Berwick-Cranbourne Road will be closed from 5am on Wednesday 1 July to 5am Monday 13 July 2026 as part of a major upgrade to ease congestion and make your journey safer and more reliable.
What’s happening during the closure
- Installation of public lighting poles
- Reinstate centre medians
- Installation of new kerbs and guard rails
- Remove and smooth out existing asphalt, and install new asphalt
- Completion of the shared walking and cycling paths
When this is completed, the intersection will partially reopen, with Thompsons Road remaining closed in both directions between Berwick-Cranbourne Road and Matterhorn Drive until mid-September 2026.
Access and detours
While the intersection is closed, local detours will be in place for residents. You can access your property via Thompsons Road, Wheelers Park Drive and Glasscocks Road, or Berwick-Cranbourne Road, Grices Road, and Laker and Fenway boulevards. See map above for more details. Please allow an extra 20 minutes travel time.
